The Baysox had a runner reach on a first inning error on a dropped throw to first base allowing 3B Niuman Romero to reach. After that defensive miscue, Sampson retired 18 in a row before walking DH KD Kang with one out in the seventh inning.

Sampson retired the next two batters for Altoona’s first complete game one-hit shutout in five years.

Bowie starter Anthony Vasquez worked five innings allowing three runs while throwing 100 pitches. He gave way to Jake Pettit who retired all six batters faced in his first appearance since entering the Baysox bullpen. Mychal Givens pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

The series continues with RHP Zach Davies on the mound for the 6:00 p.m. start. Coverage begins on 1430-WNAV and 99.9 FM in the city of Annapolis 20-minutes prior to first pitch.
