Adams fuels Baysox win

Baysox ImageBowie’s bats returned to life on Thursday night with an 11-run 22-hit avalanche, burying the Harrisburg Senators 11-1 in the series finale. 2B David Adams led the charge going 5-for-5 with four RBI’s in the Baysox win.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first, Adams had the game’s biggest at-bat. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Adam drove a ball to the wall in right-center field scoring all three runs while Adams pulled up standing into third with a 3-RBI triple. The Baysox never looked back.

Bowie had all nine batter register a hit in the game. They scored in six of nine innings. 3B Niuman Romero registered his 2nd four-hit game of the season going 4-for6 on the night. The five-hit effort for Adams tied a career high. He came a home run shy of the first Bowie cycle since Manny Machado did so on 8/4/12.

The Baysox got a strong night on the hill as well. Starter Anthony Vasquez went to 3-0 since re-entering the rotation four starts ago going six innings, while allowing seven hits a run and striking out six batters. Relievers Jason Gurka (2 IP) and Oliver Drake (1 IP) closed the door.

Bowie will now head home for the first of four games against first-place Richmond with LHP Tim Berry on the hill.

The series opener will be Friday, July 11th at 6:35 p.m. For tickets contact the Baysox at 301-464-4865 or order online at baysox.com.
