Accident shuts down I-97 in Millersville

Just after 8:15 this morning multiple units responded to the area of I-97 North near Route 32 for a reported motor vehicle collision with entrapment. Units arrived on location to find a single vehicle accident with three people ejected from the vehicle and one severely trapped. Initially a “Go Team” from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma was requested in addition to Maryland State Police Aviation. The trapped patient was extricated and flown to Shock Trauma with critical, life threatening injuries. Additionally, three patients were transported by ground to Shock Trauma by paramedic unit- two critically injured and one severely injured.

As of the time of this posting I-97 remains closed with traffic diverted on to Rt. 32 while the Maryland State Police investigate.
