New art exhibit at Woods Memorial

Low Tide 2The Gallery at Woods is currently exhibiting work by members of the Laurel Art Guild.  The eleven artists featured work in a variety of media, including oils, watercolors, acrylic and pastels. Styles range from realism to abstract expressionism;;  Subjects include landscapes,  seascapes, still-lifes and florals.

The exhibit runs through August 17.  Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 9am-9pm;  Friday 9:00-5:00 and Sundays 1:00pm-5pm and Saturdays by appointment by calling Nancy Saarlas 410-647-0135.

The Laurel Art Guild is a non-profit organization for people interested in the advancement of the fine arts.  Membership consists of professional and amateur artists expressing themselves through a wide variety of media.  The guild serves to promote public appreciation for the support of its endeavors through community involvement.  The Guild makes scholarship fund donations to two local high schools for graduating seniors that are continuing their studies  in fine arts.

Founded in l967, the Laurel Art Guild is located on the grounds of the historic Montpelier Mansion in Laurel, Maryland.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the visual arts.  Their meetings provide educational presentations to further develop artistic skills and interests.  Meetings and workshops are held throughout the year in addition to art shows and other events.  For further information on the Laurel Art Guild, visit the website at www.laurelartguild.org
