The Annapolis Gallery Association is pleased to announce its 24th Annual Annapolis Art Walk to be held Thursday evening August 21st from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  The public is invited to join us in a festive evening enjoying the visual arts.  Over twenty galleries in downtown historic Annapolis are participating in this annual event, hosting new art exhibits and featuring artists demonstrating their skills in various media. Enjoy the talented musicians around town and light summer refreshments at the galleries.

Yellow balloons and yellow banners are .posted at all participating galleries – gallery maps and events listings will be available at each art gallery.

Here is your chance to peek over an artist’s shoulder and watch them at work!  Artists working in oil, watercolor, ceramics, woodturning, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafts and more, will be demonstrating their skills at the Annapolis Art Walk. It promises to be an enjoyable summer evening for art lovers. Add this event to your summer calendar of “must do”.  Annapolis is always a fun place to visit and events like the Annual Art Walk only enhance its reputation as a city that is a joy to experience.

Annapolis has a long history with famous painters. Charles Willson Peale (1741- 1827) who kept a studio on State Circle in Annapolis is best known for his portraits of George Washington. Peale’s first art lesson came after meeting John Hesselius painting on the streets of the city and agreeing to exchange a saddle for some lessons.

Annapolis is a Top 25 Arts Destination as designated by American Style Magazine.  In 2014 Movoto, a national real estate blog, named Annapolis the most exciting place to live in Maryland. The Annapolis Gallery Association hopes to make the public aware of the diversity and quality of art in this growing center for the arts.  Over recent years the artist community in Annapolis has expanded rapidly, spurred by the number of visitors to the city, also by the increased numbers of art galleries.

Parking is recommended at the Hillman Garage off Main Street, the Gotts Court Garage off Calvert Street and Northwest Street (by the Visitors Center) or the Knighton Garage at Colonial Drive and West Street. The Bladen Street Garage on St. Johns Street by St. Johns College is Free and open to the public after 6:00pm.  The Blue Circulator Trolley, also Free, will travel a circuit through the city and can be hailed for a ride.

This is a Rain or Shine event.
