Baysox shutout in third straight defeat

Baysox 2013IMG_9937For just a second time this year the Baysox could not register a run as they were shutout on a rainy Tuesday evening in Harrisburg, 7-0. The shutout was the first time Bowie has failed to score since an April 23rd tilt with Erie.

Bowie had a chance to grab the early lead. With runners at the corners and one out in the second inning, SS Garabez Rosa lifted a fly ball near the line in left field. C Michael Ohlman tagged from third base but was thrown out by Harrisburg LF Quincy Latimore and the inning was over.

The Senators took over from there. Senators C Brian Jeroloman doubled home a run with two down for the lead in the second inning and 1B Kevin Keyes followed with a two-out, two-run home run an inning later to make it 3-0. Harrisburg blew the game open with a four-run fourth inning.

Bowie had eight hits in the game but failed to score. The Baysox went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base in the game.

The Baysox did get a great outing from both Mychal Givens and Marcel Prado who combined for four shutout innings out of the pen. 3B Sammie Starr entered in the seventh inning as a pinch-hitter and made his Eastern League debut.

The Baysox are back at it Tuesday night, July 8th at 7:00 p.m. with LHP Jake Pettit on the hill looking to build on a strong start his last time out. Coverage begins 20-minutes prior to first pitch on wnav.com.

The Baysox return for a big four-game series against Richmond starting Friday, July 11th at 6:35 p.m. For tickets contact the Baysox at 301-464-4865 or order online at baysox.com.
