knesethThe Jewish Education Center of Annapolis (JEC) is pleased to announce an expansion to include families in the Anne Arundel County for school year 2014-2015.

JEC is a modern and liberal school, welcoming families from all backgrounds to participate in a new school for children grades K – 7 with Youth Group programs for students in grades 8 – 12. JEC is an all-encompassing Jewish Education Program with an emphasis on Jewish holidays and customs, Hebrew, study of Israel, Torah, Jewish Values and Traditions.

We are thrilled that the Jewish Education Center has brought on board as the Director of Education Ellyn Becker Kaufman. Ellyn Kaufman comes to us with over 35 years of experience in Jewish Education. Mrs. Kaufman is known for her love of children, her passion for Judaism, encouraging children to do Mitzvot and is highly regarded for her attention to detail with regards to family needs and grade wide programs.

Classes will be held on Sundays from 9:30 -11:30 am for students in grades K – 7 and on Wednesday afternoons (exact times to comply with the majority of the families’ wishes) for students in grades 4 -7.  Both days will include Jewish holidays, Hebrew and Jewish Studies programs.

The Sunday programs will include monthly Israeli dance classes and Music classes, including a children’s choir.

JEC is located in the heart of Annapolis at the intersection of Hilltop and Spa Road.

Classes are now being formed for grades K -7.

Students will prepare towards their Bar and Bat Mitzvah service with the treasured and admired Rabbi Weisblum, individually. Rabbi Weisblum is known for his charismatic approach with the children and they love meeting with him to prepare towards their milestone life cycle event. Rabbi Weisblum has been the Rabbi at Kneseth Israel for the past 13 years and had been the force behind the changes made to the synagogue to keep it relevant to life in Anne Arundel County.

Membership to congregation Kneseth Israel is complimentary to all families enrolling their children in JEC for the first year.
