AAWDC YouthWorks! awards AACPS contract for in-school youth programs

AAWDCThe Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) YouthWorks! announced that Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) has won the contract to provide in-school youth program services in fiscal year 2015.

In March 2014, AAWDC YouthWorks! published a Request for Proposal (RFP) for in-school youth programs designed to integrate workforce development activities into year-round academic programs that support 21st-century skills attainment, high school graduation, and the successful transition from high school to post-secondary education and employment.

After completing the initial evaluations and full proposal review, the RFP Review Committee submitted a recommendation for funding one award. The Youth Council recently approved the recommendation allowing contract negotiations to begin. Vendors have been notified of their recommended award status, and contract negotiations are being scheduled for early June with a goal of contracts being complete by the end of June, 2014.

“We would like to thank the organizations that responded to the RFP,” said Shannon McGarry, Director of Youth Programs. “AAWDC appreciates your participation and interest in meeting this community need.”

AAWDC’s YouthWorks! Campaign is a cross-sector, county-wide initiative dedicated to improving the economic outcomes of the county’s youth by attracting, aligning, and investing resources in coordinated, youth-workforce-development strategies.
