On Saturday, April 5, 2014, The Summit School celebrated their 25th anniversary with a garden party gala, Sowing the Seeds of Success.  Current and alumni families, teachers, alumni, friends, and supporters gathered at the school’s campus in Edgewater, MD to commemorate 25 years of success and to celebrate the next 25 years of excellence in education.

Two alumni, Michele Bynum Mendez and Jason Bisciotti, were presented with the E. Allen Robinson Award to recognize their successes since they graduated from The Summit School.  Michele’s long-time goal was to pursue a career in nursing and to help others.  She has been a nurse technician at Anne Arundel Medical Center in the Pediatric Unit for 10 years.  Jason earned a Master in Business Administration degree and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Education at Loyola University while being a teacher’s aide in Baltimore City.  His goal is to use his experience in business and education to help better the lives of children in Baltimore who lack proper resources.

The gala raised more than $110,000 for the school’s unique program plus an additional $48,250 for their faculty fund. The Summit School educates bright students with dyslexia and other learning differences in grades 1 – 8.  With an overall 4:1 student to staff ratio, The Summit School changes the lives of their students. Families travel regionally and internationally to benefit from this specialized program. www.thesummitschool.org
