PVA magnet bringing show to Chesapeake Arts Center (May 9, 2014)

Chesapeake Arts Center logoThe Chesapeake Arts Center is holding a free “PVA Visual Arts and Film Showcase” featuring Art from the children of the Anne Arundel County’s Performance and Visual Arts Magnet Program on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Chesapeake Arts Center Gallery and Studio 194 Theatre located at 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, Maryland 21225.

In the last two years Anne Arundel County has made a tremendous investment in its youth through the vision of the Performance and Visual Arts Magnet Program. The Mission of the Performing and Visual Magnet programs is to provide students who demonstrate artistic ability, interest and potential a curriculum of rigorous training that emphasizes the creative process through collaborative opportunities.

In 2012 that vision was finally realized on the High School Level. Specifically in this show, the visual arts and film students are being featured. Their work will be showcased throughout the month of May in the Chesapeake Arts Center gallery. During the opening on May 9th, the students will be able to talk through the work and the film students will be showcasing their films in the Studio 194 theatre. These works have been a culmination of their one to two years in this program. These pieces

represent the collective thoughts, beliefs, and feelings of these extremely talented young men and woman. “Their vision has finally been realized in their first real professional exhibition thanks to the partnership with the Chesapeake Arts Center!” says Leo Hylan, Performance and Visual Arts Magnet Program Teacher.

During the reception, friends and family will be able to enjoy free appetizers and drinks from 6:30-8:30pm, while viewing the PVA students artwork and films.
