MainStreets Annapolis hosting retailers workshop (May 7, 2014)

mainstreetsThe City of Annapolis and the MainStreets Annapolis Partnership (MAP) will host a new training program on visual merchandising on Wednesday, May 7 at 8 a.m. at Annapolis City Hall.

The title of the workshop is “Creating Visual Magic with Low Budget, High Impact Techniques” and is designed especially for Annapolis specialty retailers and restaurateurs. It is taught by nationally acclaimed Main Street expert Margie Johnson from Shop Talk. The information presented will help business owners and staff understand the “nuts and bolts” of visual merchandising.

Free to all interested in attending, participants will learn ways to create “shopper-stopper” store windows that are a visual magnet for shoppers, how to use color to create drama and set the mood for the store, and how to read the business by the exterior of the store.

Ms. Johnson, a visual merchandising expert based in Virginia Beach, will take the audience on a photo journey that illustrates the many easy-to-implement ideas from successful specialty businesses.  Each participant will depart with a handout to recap many of the ideas covered during the session.

Additionally, five local businesses are receiving special one-on-one assistance with their merchandising make-overs courtesy of MAP and with the generous support of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a program sponsor.

To register for the workshop, contact Karen Theimer Brown at [email protected].  Space is limited and reservations are on a first come, first served basis.
