Berry solid in 5-1 win

Baysox May 2014Baysox starter Tim Berry tied a season-high with seven strong innings and the Baysox finally broke through to take the series opener in Richmond 5-1 on Tuesday night. Berry (2-1) allowed a run on five hits in the win.

Bowie grabbed the lead in the fifth inning on consecutive doubles by C Michael Ohlman and LF Garabez Rosa.

It was knotted at 1-1 when the Baysox grabbed the lead for good in the sixth inning. 1B Christian Walker and CF Dariel Alvarez singled with one down in the inning. They were at the corners with two down when 2B David Adams singled on the ground to right field to give the Baysox the lead. Ohlman followed with an RBI-single to make it 3-1 Baysox.

Early in the game, the Baysox threatened often but failed to score. Richmond starter Clayton Blackburn enticed four double play ground balls in the first four innings.

Bowie plated two unearned runs in the ninth inning. Baysox reliever Marcel Prado worked the final two innings for his second save of the year.

The Baysox continue their four-game series in three nights in Richmond with a doubleheader Wednesday, May 14th at 5:35 p.m. Coverage will begin on wnav.com and be joined in progress on 1430-AM WNAV and 99.9 in the city of Annapolis.
