St. Margaret’s Church awards $9,600 grant to Hospice suicide program

hospiceChesapeake Life Center, a program service of Hospice of the Chesapeake, announced today it has received a $9,600 grant from St. Margaret’s Church of Annapolis.

The St. Margaret’s grant will provide financial aid to families in need of counseling who are affected by suicide loss; a monthly griever’s support group; training and presentations for professional groups who provide postvention suicide support; and a workshop featuring a variety of professionals and speakers.

The grant will also provide grief education and support for Anne Arundel County Public School staff that are impacted by suicide loss and will provide support to AACPS staff on a regular basis to help them manage the work-related stress that occurs when dealing with suicide loss in the school communities.

“In the darkness of suicide grief, it is validating to have St. Margaret’s belief in the work of the Chesapeake Life Center to bring healing and hope to those affected by such a devastating loss.  It shows true commitment to collaborate in healing those in our community who need it most,” said Karen Frank, Director, Chesapeake Life Center.

The Chesapeake Life Center, located in Pasadena, MD, is one of the few resources serving Anne Arundel County with trained counselors in dealing with suicide loss.  They frequently provide consultation to teachers, social workers and healthcare professionals and also conduct one-on-one professional trainings.
