CYSO final concert this month (May 31, 2014)

CYSOThe Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform two Season Finale concerts on Saturday, May 31 at the Annapolis Area Christian School Upper Campus, 109 Burns Crossing Road, Severn, MD—at 2 p.m and 7:30 p.m.  The afternoon concert features the Concert Orchestra, Prep Strings, Strings Orchestra, and Jr. Flute Ensemble.  The 7:30 p.m. concert features the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Sr. Flute Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble.

At the early concert the Concert Orchestra, under the direction of Vladimir Lande, will play movements from Beethoven’s 5th Symphony; Peer Gynt Suite II, by Edvard Grieg; the Overture to La Forza del Destino, by Giuseppe Verdi, and the first movement of the Violin Concerto, Op 64 by Felix Mendelssohn which will be played by by Allison Penna, CYSO’s 3rd place concerto winner.

At the 7:30 p.m. concert the Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Julien Benichou, will play Symphony No 4 in G major, Op. 88 by Antonio Dvorak and Concertino in E flat Major for Clarinet and Orchestra, Op. 26 by Carl Maria von Weber with 2nd place Concerto winner, Patrick Lill, playing the solo clarinet part.

Both concerts are free and open to the public; donations accepted.
