Arts Council presents ‘The Sky is the Limit” at BWI (April 23, 2014)

The public is invited to The Artist’s Reception of “The Sky is the Limit’ BWI exhibit on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.  Sponsored by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County the juried show features the work of Anne Arundel County artists Anne C. Sieling, Carole P. Falk. Christalene Karaiskakis, Don Dement, Elizabeth Rounsaville, Frances Borchardt, Jeanne Gentry Keck, John O’Neill, Lora Moran-Collins, Marietta Schreiber, Michael Thorpe, Olin Yoder, Richard Niewerth, Richard Schimpf, Robert Schulman, Susan Walsh, and Wil Scott.

The exhibit of paintings, drawings, and photographs is located between concourses C & D in the departures area.  The exhibit, which opened on March 15th will remain on display through June 20th.  Light refreshments will be served and guests wishing to attend should RSVP by Monday, April 2lst by calling the Arts Council at 410-222-7949. All parking for the reception will be validated.

The Arts Council exhibits are juried by a committee of four that include: Committee Chair Roberta Pardo, who studied industrial design in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and fine arts at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Wil Scott, a photographer and Director of Adult Programs at the National Gallery of Art, Teddi Schulman, a lifelong arts enthusiast and former arts consultant; and Scotti Preston, who has an arts background working in a variety of mediums.  Artists must be residents of Anne Arundel County and over 18 years of age.  Planning is currently underway for the next 2014 exhibit to run through the summer and fall and artists are encouraged to check the Arts Council website (acaac.org) for future information and entry guidelines.

The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County provides grants and support to over forty nonprofit organizations.  Providing a resource for the cultural arts community through advocacy, funding, programming, and promotions; the Arts Council supports a variety of groups that include Maryland Hall, Anne Arundel County Trust for Preservation, Children’s Theater of Annapolis, and the Captain Avery Museum.  The Arts Council also administers the Arts in Education Program serving both public and private Anne Arundel County Schools, which provides grant funding to bring performances and artists into auditoriums and classrooms.
