Health Department celebrates National Public Health Week with walk, open house

National_Public_Health_Awareness_WeekThe Anne Arundel County Department of Health will celebrate National Public Health Week, April 7 through 13, with free activities for the public.

The theme for this year’s National Public Health Week is “Public Health: Start Here.” The Department will promote that theme with an open house in Annapolis on Tuesday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and a nature walk on Wednesday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The rain date for the nature walk is Thursday, April 10. The events are free and open to the public.

The Tuesday open house will be held in the Lower Level Conference Room of the Health Services Building, 3 Harry S. Truman Parkway, in Annapolis. There will be a variety of presentations by Department programs. Topics will include infant CPR, rabies prevention and septic systems. Displays and giveaways will be available throughout the day.

The Wednesday nature walk will start at the main entrance to the Health Services Building, 3 Harry S. Truman Parkway, in Annapolis. Participants can choose between three trails of varying distances and take a healthy walk!
