The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC) will host The Great Give 2014 from 6 PM on May 7 to 6 PM on May 8, 2014. The Great Give is a 24-hour online fundraiser designed to raise funds to support Anne Arundel County nonprofit organizations and to strengthen a “give local” spirit throughout the County. CFAAC hosted the inaugural Great Give in May 2013 and raised over $606,000 from over 2,700 donors for 118 local nonprofits through the first-time event. The goal of the Great Give 2014 is to raise $1,000,000 from 5,000 donors for over 150 nonprofit organizations.
During the 24 hours of the Great Give 2014, individuals, families, businesses, and organizations can go online to www.greatgiveaac.org to make a gift to participating charities of their choice. This year, 171 local nonprofits are registered to participate. View the complete list here.
Participating nonprofit organizations will not only receive all donations made to their organization during the 24-hour event but will also be eligible to win thousands of dollars in cash prizes. A total of $90,000 will be awarded. This year’s cash awards are being underwritten in part through the generous support of the Greenberg Gibbons/Reliable Foundation. A list of Great Give 2014 prize categories can be found here.
“Our community came together for the very first Great Give and raised over $600,000 online in just one day. I’m confident that together, in 2014, we can do more,” remarked Bess Langbein, CFAAC Executive Director. “Every gift, whether it’s $10 or $10,000, will make a tremendous difference, and the collective impact will be immediate. We’re encouraging everyone to mark their calendars now to donate online at www.greatgiveaac.org between 6 PM on May 7th and 6 PM on May 8th and to ask their family, friends and colleagues to do the same.”
The CFAAC’s Great Give 2014 is supported for the second year in a row by Presenting Sponsor Maryland Live! Casino who will also be hosting the Great Give Countdown Party for participating nonprofits, sponsors, CFAAC Board members and others at its Rams Head Center Stage location on May 8th from 5-8 PM.
Additionally, this year’s event is supported by Premier Great Giver Bob Pascal and is being coordinated via the efforts of a volunteer Steering Committee led by Robert Neall and Kathy Brooks. A variety of sponsorship and partnership opportunities are still available for the 2014 event.
