Pregnant woman held at gunpoint in Annapolis, police make arrest

gunbarrelDevery Kelley, 24, of Annapolis and Cornell Robinson, 44, of Washington, D.C. were arrested by officers from the Annapolis Police Department for an armed robbery that occurred in the 1800 block of Copeland St.

On March 2nd at 4:30am Annapolis Police Department received a call from a citizen saying they saw a man and a pregnant woman being held at gunpoint in the 1800 block of Copeland St.  Officers arrived on scene and one of the victims pointed to the suspects fleeing the neighborhood in a stolen vehicle.

Officers pursued the vehicle to Tyler Ct where the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.  During the chase the suspects threw a gun from the vehicle which was recovered by officers.  After a brief foot chase both the driver and the passenger were arrested.  Kelley and Robinson are being held at the Annapolis Police Department prior to be charged and transported to the District Court Commissioner for their initial hearing.

The pregnant female victim was reported to be in labor prior to the robbery and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

“Thanks to the good work of our Officers we were able to take two dangerous individuals off the street and make Annapolis a safer place,” said Police Chief Michael Pristoop.  “I applaud the good work of the officers and their dedication to duty.”
