New Opportunities In Construction program for Anne Arundel County

Anne Arundel Economic DevelopmentThe Anne Arundel County Office of Central Services, in conjunction with the county Department of Public Works, Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Committee, will host New Opportunities in Construction on Tuesday, April 15 from 4-6 p.m., at the Central Sanitation Facility Complex, 445 Maxwell Frye Road in Millersville.

This outreach event targets local contractors and will focus on providing small businesses, women, minority and veteran-owned construction firms, suppliers, engineers and landscape architects with specific information and requirements for conducting business with Anne Arundel County in relation to new stormwater management initiatives and upcoming capital projects.

Starting in fiscal year 2015, Anne Arundel County will spend more than $460 million on pond retrofits, storm drain outfalls, stream restoration and infrastructure rehabilitation.  This event is the first of many opportunities to promote these projects to local contractors.  Tours of the Central Sanitation Facility, Anne Arundel’s only municipal building certified by the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) will also be provided.

For companies interested in learning more about financing programs for businesses, minority certification and other issues, staff will be available to speak with attendees about available County resources.  Agencies and organizations exhibiting at the event include:
