Cleo’s Fine Oils featured in Annapolis Film Festival documentary

Cleos Fine OilsJourneying from olive trees nestled in the rolling hills of Umbria, Italy, to Cleo’s Fine Oils in the Annapolis Towne Centre and ending in a Severna Park family kitchen, “What’s In Your Bottle?,” is a documentary study of environmental consumerism making its debut at the Annapolis Film Festival on March 29.
Filmmaker Jessica Paholsky of Penn State University tackles the lack of regulation and awareness of quality extra virgin olive oil in this 6-minute film that focuses on Fontanaro Organic Farm in Umbria, Italy and their only importer in the United States, Cleo’s Fine Oils in Annapolis.  Paholsky follows the oil from the farm to the Severna Park table of consumer Sharon Simon, who buys her oil from Cleo’s.
“We were blown away when the filmmaker approached us about doing this project,” said Saleta Cameron, one of the owners of Cleo’s Fine Oils.  “We had cultivated a relationship with the folks at Fontanaro three years ago because of their fantastic olive oil and passion for environmentally-friendly practices.  This film is great educational exposure for the olive oil industry.”
“What’s In Your Bottle?” will open the Annapolis Film Festival’s Environmental Program on Saturday, March 29 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Johns College Key Auditorium.  Cleo’s Fine Oils will have a complimentary tasting table on site allowing participants to sample premium extra virgin olive oil.  Tickets for the entire Environmental Program, which includes three other films, are available online at www.annapolisfilmfestival.net
Cleo’s will host a complimentary showing of the film at their location in the Annapolis Town Center on Saturday, April 12 at 6 p.m.  Special guests that evening will be filmmaker Jessica Paholsky and Fontanaro owner Lucia Pinelli of Italy. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.  Space is limited and reservations are required. Email [email protected] for more information.
