Ann Arundell County Historical Society Annual Dinner

stornettaThe Ann Arrundell County Historical Society, Inc. 52nd Annual Dinner will be held at Snyder’s Willow Grove, 841 North Hammonds Ferry Road in Linthicum on Sunday, March 30, 2014 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a reception.  Dinner will be served at 3:00 p.m. The guest speaker is Alberta Stornetta, author of the new book; Arnold, Maryland and Neighbors on the Broadneck  (Annapolis MD:  Bay Media Inc., 2013.)   Learn about the days, not that long ago, when Baltimore & Annapolis Boulevard was a mud and oyster shell road and everyone, including children, owned a horse to navigate the only path between the two cities.  In 1928 an amusement park was built on the Magothy River that featured a roller coaster over the water and an alligator exhibit.

The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society, founded in 1962, seeks to encourage and inspire present and future generations to preserve and explore the County’s history to foster a greater appreciation for our shared legacy.
