Police identify Crownsville murder victim

MurderOn March 12, 2014, at approximately 6:00 a.m. officers from the Western District responded to the 1100 block of Honeysuckle Lane in Crownsville/Annapolis for a report of an unoccupied taxi minivan. The caller advised that the vehicle appeared suspicious and the meter was running.

Officers arrived on scene and found blood inside of the vehicle along with other signs of a struggle. At this point, there was no one in the immediate area of the vehicle. Additional officers were summoned to the area to conduct an extensive search.

Officers searched the area and found the body of an adult male on a driveway near the intersection of Honeysuckle Lane and Generals Highway. The male was suffering from upper body trauma.

The Criminal Investigations Division responded to handle the investigation. At this point, no motive has been established and it is unknown if this was a random or targeted incident.

The deceased has since been identified as Benjamin Delano Kirby, Jr. 41, of Annapolis.

There is no information on a suspect(s) at this time.
