If you ask ten people their favorite restaurant, you are likely to get ten different answers. But if you ask Yelp that same question, it is a little more black and white! Yelp, for the uninitiated is a crowd-sourced review website. Reviews are based on readers actual experiences, not a fabricated one because a critic is in the house or they are a good advertiser. It’s not perfect by any means, but like its cousin, TripAdvisor, if you read the comments, you can get a general idea–good, bad or ugly. And we have a few ugly ones in town too!
I am not sure why some 3.5 star places appear in a higher ranking than a 4 star place–perhaps it is in the algorithm when combined with the number of views and reviews. What is interesting to notice is that there is not a single 5 star restaurant. Here are the Top Ten Restaurants in Annapolis according to Yelp. Do you agree? Disagree? Leave a comment!
