Grammy nominee Frenchie Davis will share her repertoire of soulful sounds at a concert at 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts at Anne Arundel Community College.
Davis, a Washington, D.C. native and a Howard University alumna, came to the national TV audience’s attention when she appeared on the second season of the Fox TV show, “American Idol.” From there, she moved to Broadway where she appeared in “Rent,” “Dream Girls” and “Ain’t Misbehaving,” for which she received her Grammy nomination. She also performed on the first season of NBC’s TV show, “The Voice.” Since then, she has established her own label, French Davis Music Group, and, with singer/songwriter Janice Robinson, recorded her first single, “Love’s Got a Hold on Me.”
Davis has said she hopes her success and performances inspire others to believe in themselves as they pursue their passions. Sponsored by AACC’s Office of Student Engagement, the concert is part of the college’s recognition of Women’s History Month. Tickets are $10 general admission; $7 AACC faculty and staff and $5 for students with valid AACC student IDs and are available through the AACC box office at 410-777-2457 or firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information about the concert, contact the Office of Student Engagement at 410-777-2218 or visit www.aacc.edu/womenshistorymonth.
