Shotgun Stolen From Outdoor World Bass Pro Shop Overnight

On February 1, 2014, at 1:48 a.m., officers responded to the Outdoor World Bass Pro Shop located at 7000 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover, MD for a business alarm.

Upon their arrival, and as a search was conducted, officers found the exit door leading into the mall was unlocked. A check of the business at that time did not reveal a suspect. There was also no indication that anything had been taken.

Police responded back to the Outdoor World at 6:46 a.m. on February 1, 2014. The manager advised that he checked video surveillance footage of the inside of the business. He observed what appeared to be a male with a light complexion exiting the store through the inside mall doors, carrying a shotgun. The manager then proceeded to the shotgun display and found that a lock bar appeared to have been pried on and the bar itself was bent. The manager then advised that a Beretta shotgun was missing from the display. It is unknown how the suspect entered the business.

Additional surveillance footage showed the suspect exiting Outdoor World into the mall turning left, then exiting through the emergency doors. Footage also shows the suspect in the service hallway and exiting the mall through the loading docks between Outdoor World and Bed Bath & Beyond. The suspect was last seen walking through the empty parking lot, towards Bass Pro Drive.

Detectives from the District Detective Unit responded to the scene along with the Evidence Collection Unit.

Bike Patrol units were deployed to the mall for an extra presence along with additional officers from other parts of the County.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department has remained in close contact with Arundel Mills Mall Management and Security.
