If you ever wondered about what sparked an artist’s imagination to focus on a particular project, plan to attend the Feb. 20 presentation of “The Fort Howard Paintings,” with Matt Klos, assistant professor of visual arts at Anne Arundel Community College.
Klos, who spent the fall term on sabbatical, will discuss the inspiration behind his plein-air paintings on Fort Howard from noon to 1 p.m. in the Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 326 on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. He also will talk about the techniques he employed in creating his sabbatical art project.
Klos came to AACC in 2007 and helped revamp some of the visual arts offerings at the college during his year as the chair of the Visual Arts department. He recently received the Maryland State Arts Council’s Individual Artist Award. His work is being shown in New York City, Philadelphia and Seattle.
