Details Released In Arnold Fatal Crash

fatal-accidentOn February 20th, 2014 at approximately 10:40 a.m., Vehicle #1 was traveling east on College Parkway approaching Shore Acres Drive when it drifted across the centerline, traveling into the westbound lane. Vehicle #1 then struck the side of Vehicle #2 in the area of its left rear wheel. As a result of this impact, Vehicle #2 rotated approximately 180 degrees in a counterclockwise direction, sliding to a stop in the westbound lane approximately 100 feet from the area of impact.

After striking Vehicle #2, Vehicle #1 which was now disabled, continued to travel east in the westbound lane. Vehicle #1 then struck Vehicle #3 approximately 100 feet east of the initial collision. Prior to the impact the driver of Vehicle #3 attempted to swerve to the right in an effort to avoid the impact with Vehicle #1, but was unable to do so. As a result of this impact, Vehicle #1 rotated counterclockwise approximately 90 degrees, coming to rest sitting across the westbound lane of College Parkway. Vehicle #1 was then stuck by Vehicle #4, whose driver had locked up the vehicle’s brakes in an effort to avoid this impact. Vehicle #1 then rotated an additional 90 degrees to the left, coming to rest in the westbound lane in front of Vehicle #4.

As a result of the multiple impacts the driver of Vehicle #2 was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of Vehicle #3 was flown to Shock Trauma where he was admitted with serious injuries.

At this time there is no evidence to suggest drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the cause of this collision. There also is not any evidence excessive speed on behalf of any of the involved vehicles played a contributing factor.

There was evidence to suggest the driver of Vehicle #1 may have suffered from some type of medical condition causing her to lose control of the vehicle and cross the center line.
