Audiostrobelight–Family, Friends, And One Hot Band

audiostrobelightI remember the first time I saw Audiostrobelight walk into a venue. I had no idea who they were, what their potential as a band was, or even what genre they played. They were all hugs and smiles, making a point to talk to every single person in the venue. Typical band things. But imagine my surprise when they finally claimed the stage. They were packed on tight, with drums and guitars, ukuleles, keyboards, mandolins and a violin. They brought about a tornado of energy, sucking everybody in. People were dancing and moshing, the violinist hung from the rafters, and the band played it off so well! Not only did they have stage presence, but their energy added to their music. Every musician in the band has incredible talent, and they play on the same wavelength. Every choreographed drumstick flip, violin bow spin, and guitarist jump perfectly flowed together with the keyboard solos, high notes, and guitar riffs. They don’t just play a concert- they put on a show, they have a party. I knew immediately that I had to see them again.

The next time they came around, I drove an hour out just to see them. Audiostrobelight didn’t fail to impress. Bouncing about the stage, they performed the single most beautiful rendition of Hotel California that I have ever heard. Their sound is the most unique- almost rock, but with the touches of violin and keyboard. Astoundingly, they remember names of fans that they have met in the past, greeting me by name and open arms. I bought a cd, realizing that they will probably be a band I see whenever they tour.

Audiostrobelight came around again, this time to Baltimore. I almost didn’t go, but they Facebooked me, asking if I would please go. I mean, if they insisted! That evening, I drove all around the not-so-great parts of Baltimore, excitedly searching for The Sidebar. Again, they greeted with open arms. Audiostrobelight couldn’t even fit on the stage this time- they spilled out into the audience. Again, they threw the party of a lifetime. I asked a guitarist for a different band what they thought of them. “Oh, shit,” he replied “can we just not go on? We can’t compete with that! Can they just take our set time instead?”

Audiostrobelight continues to impress me with every concert- not just onstage, but also with their relationships with their fans. They treat everybody like their best friends, like a long-lost brother. They want to have a fun time, and they want the crowd to have fun too. Also, they’re absolutely phenomenal live. Everybody works so well together to sound professional. This is a band that people would pay good money to see live. Thank you, Audiostrobelight, for being great people, awesome musicians, and my personal favorite band.

Check them out.  They aren’t touring in the area right now but you can be sure when they do, I will be first in line for tickets!
