Midshipman Allen was an oceanography major at the Naval Academy and was a member of the 1st Company within the Brigade.  He was a member of the Club Soccer Team and the Italian-American and Japanese-American clubs at the academy.  He attended high school at the Haverford School in Pennsylvania and also attended Virginia Tech for two years prior to being inducted into the Naval Academy.  Midshipman Allen was slated to serve in the aviation community as a Naval Flight Officer after graduation and commissioning this May.

“The Naval Academy is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Midshipman Max Allen.  It is painful to lose a member of our Naval Academy family, and as we attempt to better understand this tremendous loss, we offer our deepest condolences to Max’s family, close friends, classmates and company mates during this extremely difficult time,” said Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Midshipman Allen’s white SUV was discovered Sunday afternoon in College Creek near the Nimitz library on the Naval Academy grounds.   An Anne Arundel County Fire Department Dive Team was dispatched to the scene to search the vehicle, and discovered a body underwater near the seawall.  Allen’s body was recovered from the water Sunday evening.

The vehicle was recovered Monday morning and is being examined by NCIS and Naval Support Activity Annapolis Police as part of the ongoing investigation into the cause and time of the accident.
