Senior Center Plus Coming To Pascal

aadeptagingBeginning Tuesday, February 11th, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will offer Senior Center Plus twice per week at the Pascal Senior Activity Center in Glen Burnie.  Currently the program is offered once a week at four of Anne Arundel County’s senior activity centers.

Senior Center Plus is a supervised day program that provides a safe environment for those senior citizens who may not be able to navigate senior activity centers independently, yet do not require the extensive services and supervision of medical adult day care. Senior Center Plus is a social program that includes organized activities such as crafts, chair exercise, reality orientation games and exercises as well as lunch and entertainment. All activities are planned to promote mental and physical health for those seniors aging with memory loss and dementia. The program is coordinated by a Registered Nurse and each center has 1 Certified Nursing Assistant per 8 clients.

Senior Center Plus Schedule:

10 AM to 2 PM

Fee is $40.00 per day

  • Monday           Arnold Senior Activity Center
  • Tuesday          O’Malley Senior Activity Center, Pascal Senior Activity Center
  • Wednesday      Annapolis Senior Activity Center
  • Thursday         Pascal Senior Activity Center

Senior Center Plus participants must be Anne Arundel County residents aged 55+, who are able to independently use the restroom and feed themselves. Before enrolling in Senior Center Plus, all potential participants receive a free evaluation by a qualified Registered Nurse or Licensed Clinical Social Worker from the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities.

Evidenced based research shows an overall improvement in cognitive, physical and psychological function and a delay in progression of disease with participation in social day programs. Senior Center Plus also provides respite for clients’ caregivers.
