Grab your favorite dockside seat in America’s Sailing Capital to watch midweek races where some 150 boats sail around several marks in the Bay before heading back to Spa Creek for a finish in front of the Annapolis Yacht Club. For many, the post-race party is the official beginning of the weekend.

More than 100 yachts compete in the oldest and longest overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay. The 70-mile race to St. Mary’s City at the mouth of the Potomac River includes two separate starts – 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The event provides an impressive on-the-water spectator opportunity.

Crustacean lovers feast on the Chesapeake Bay’s bounty at this all-you-can-eat and drink event that is arguably the largest crab feast in the world. More than 3,000 people are expected to finish off 320 bushels of #1 male crabs (that’s nearly 40,000 of the big ones!), 3,400 ears of corn, 100 gallons of crab soup, 1,800 hot dogs, 150 pounds of beef barbeque, and hundreds of gallons of beer and soft drinks. Proceeds benefit local community and cultural organizations.

Enjoy live entertainment as you stroll along the first block of West Street and Calvert Street next to Whitemore parking garage and peruse the work of 100 local and regional artists. Local restaurants set up outside cafes that are perfect for people watching and an afternoon bite to eat. Free parking for the family-friendly event is available at the state parking garage on the corner of Calvert and Bladen Streets.

Peek over artists’ shoulders and watch them work. More than 20 galleries in downtown Annapolis host new art exhibits and feature artists working in oil, watercolor, ceramics, woodturning, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafts, and more during this festive evening of visual arts. Musicians perform around town and galleries serve light refreshments. Yellow balloons and a yellow banner are posted at each participating gallery. Maps are available at each gallery. Come discover why American Style magazine has consistently designated Annapolis a “Top 25 Arts Destination.”

The region’s premier outdoor event and second largest Renaissance Festival in the country is celebrating its 38th season at Revel Grove. Presented by the Annapolis Striders, the race has been listed as one of the top ten 10-mile races in the country by Runner’s World magazine. It is a beautiful course through historic Annapolis and over the Severn River. Registration begins on May 1, 2014.
