music-notes1The Encore Chorale invites you to join us for our Spring season of singing starting on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2:00pm-3:30pm for 15 weeks at the Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). Encore singers improve their voices, meet new friends and enjoy a great new adventure singing challenging music in four parts in preparation to join other Encore Chorales from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, for exciting community concerts. There are no auditions and singers may sit to rehearse and perform.

Singers will rehearse a Spring repertoire that includes classical selections as well as the music of Verdi, the Gershwins, and Broadway, in preparation for May performances, to include the AACC Pascal Center for the Performing Arts and Gordon Center for Performing Arts in Owings Mills.

The value of choral singing in improving and sustaining the physical, mental and social health of older adults is documented and undeniable. Encore offers the opportunity to explore a new artistic venture for those who have not sung in years, or to continue a life-long passion for others. Singers learn vocal technique, proper breathing and posture, and always come away delighted by the weekly rehearsals.

The chorale is conducted by Jeanne Kelly, Founder of Encore and former conductor of the United States Naval Academy Women’s Glee Club and Georgetown University Concert Choir.

Tuition for 15 weeks of instruction, music and concerts is $161 paid to AACC through the Lifestages Program.
