Compass Theater Presents Family Holiday Show

theater_masksA delightful production suitable for families and children, Seven In One Blow, Or The Brave Little Kid  is adapted from the classic fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm. This interactive play with music was conceived by Randy Sharp and the Axis Theatre Company of New York. Children in the audience are encouraged to participate with singing and organized “shout-outs”. Enthralling for children ages 3-10, but fun for adults too!

Set just before the holidays, Seven In One Blow, Or The Brave Little Kid  tells the story of a child living in the city who kills seven flies with a single swat and makes a belt emblazoned with “Seven In One Blow” to commemorate the event. The Kid travels about meeting colorful characters including the Scarlet Pimpernel, a Pea, December, a Witch, an Ogre and a Princess. Along the way a few invaluable lessons are learned: an Ogre finds that you don’t always have to show how strong you are… sometimes it’s okay just to be quiet about it; a girl realizes that when you tease people you are hurting someone who may be just like you; and a scary monster understands that because she is loved, she may not be so scary after all. In the end, the Kid ultimately discovers that a parents’ love and care has no bounds.

The talented cast, directed by Lynne Childress, is assembled from the ranks of Compass Rose Theater’s Young Actor’s Studio and features Sophie Speciale; Will Fritz; Eliza Geib; Eli Pendry; Casey Baum; Ava Markhovsky; Grant Kunowsky; Abby Richards; Hannah Geib; and Maggie Baum.
