image001-2Birds, Barns, Flags, and ‘Scapes will be featured at Ahh Coffee in the Eastport Shopping Center the entire month of January 2014. On Saturday, January 4th from 2pm to 5pm, the artist will be present to sign and personalize purchases. All prints are framed and matted and range from $15 to $50.

Susan Callis has been perfecting her photography since her parents bought her her first Brownie Hawkeye Camera when living in St. Louis, Missouri.

Now using a Cannon digital SLR with multiple lenses, she captures the many moods of natural light and seeks to enhance the vast colors in nature.  Her primary subjects include waterfowl in flight and in their natural habitats.

Any early morning you may spot her roaming up and down Spa Creek in her green kayak powered by her assistant, snapping osprey as they soar, herons as they wade and ducks as they swim by.  With a keen eye and quick shutter action, Callis also captures butterflies, dragonflies and frogs as she can.

In January 2014, her premier show, “Birds, Barns, Flags, & ‘Scapes,’” will feature subjects with striking backgrounds, brilliant colors and unique settings.  Much of her work is local; however, with over 100 framed pieces this exhibit spans America’s eastern shoreline with some special shots around Albuquerque, New Mexico.
