holidaysThe holidays are a time for making memories with our families and loved ones. Sadly, there are families in our own county who will go without food and gifts during this holiday season.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services (DSS) is in urgent need of donors to participate in their annual Holiday Sharing program, a campaign that helps families and senior citizens in Anne Arundel County during the holiday season. Holiday Sharing matches donors with a family or senior citizen in Anne Arundel County who needs help. Donors purchase and personally deliver food and/or gifts the week of Christmas.

With only two weeks until Christmas, DSS has approximately 200 families (482 children) still in need of gift assistance.  Most of the children are teenagers who would appreciate gift cards.  There are also 1,000 families in need of food.

To adopt a family or make a donation, please call the Holiday Sharing office at (410) 269-4462 or tanya.steele@maryland.gov to sign up.
