Freeze-5k-1If you want to support Special Olympics Maryland, but you cringe at the thought of jumping in the Chesapeake Bay on a frosty wintry morning, then Anne Arundel Community College’s Public Safety Department is offering an alternative event – the “Freeze Your Buns” Run 5K on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.

The race, sponsored by Aerotek, begins at 10 a.m. at Parking Lot B on AACC’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Maryland.

Register ahead of time for $30 at www.freezeyourbunsrun.com, events@somd.org or 410-242-1515, ext. 503 or register on race day for $35, beginning at 9 a.m. All pre-registered runners will receive an official Freeze Your Buns Run long-sleeved shirt.

Awards will be given directly after the race and will go to the top three overall male and female runners and the top males and females in set age categories: 15 and under, 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70 and older. Awards also will be given to the top three teams overall.
