On December 4, 2013, at approximately 9:36 p.m., officers from the Southern District responded to the Shell Service Station located in the 3000 block of Solomons Island Road in Edgewater for a complaint of a man with a gun.

While en route to the location, Communications broadcasted a description of the suspect. Officers arrived on scene and observed a subject matching the description provided standing next to a truck. The subject was searched and no weapon was located. Officers then spoke with the 30-year-old male victim, who reported that he pulled into the Shell service station to fuel his vehicle when he was approached by the subject currently being detained for questioning by officers. The suspect told the victim he was an under cover police officer, lifted his coat from his right side and displayed what the victim believed was the handle of a handgun. The suspect asked for money and indicated that he was on a sting operation. Witnesses substantiated hearing the suspect identify himself as an officer and ask for money. The victim did not give the suspect any money he walked away from him.

The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with impersonating a police officer. He was transported to Southern District. Officers and K-9 canvassed the scene in an effort to locate a possible weapon, but were unable to locate one.

Suspect: Dagineaux Monroe Thomas, 43, of 4063 Muddy Creek Road, Harwood, Md
