George Washington Painting To Be Restored. It is one of the most famous paintings in Maryland. Painted by Edwin White in 1859, the painting shows General George Washington in the old Senate chamber resigning his commission as commander in chief of the Continental Army. It was removed from the wall Monday and won’t be around for a while.

Court Martial Scheduled For USNA Sex Assault Case.  A court-martial has been scheduled for February for a U.S. Naval Academy student accused of aggravated sexual assault. Midshipman Josh Tate appeared at an arraignment Monday at the Washington Navy Yard. The court-martial is scheduled to begin Feb. 10. The case stems from an April 2012 party at an off-campus house in Annapolis. The alleged victim had been drinking heavily and has testified that she cannot remember having sex with Tate.

Pasadena Pizza Shop Robbed.  Anne Arundel County police said they are looking for a man who robbed a Pasadena pizza shop. Officers were called to Vizzini’s Pizza in the 4100 block of Mountain Road in Pasadena for a report of a robbery of the business shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday. Employees told police a man came into the business, displayed a knife and demanded money from the register. The robber took an undisclosed amount of money and fled toward Belle of Georgia Avenue.

Armed Robberies, Burglaries Reported In Annapolis. Police in Annapolis are investigating several burglary and robbery incidents from over the weekend. The first burglary was reported late Friday night in the unit block of Windwhisper Lane, where the victim told police that someone had burglarized a home there and taken three rifles, a handgun, 1,800 rounds of ammunition and an underwater camera. Officials said there was no sign of forced entry at the home.
