1 Killed, Several Injures In Route 50 Crashes. Maryland State Police are investigating two night-time fatal crashes in Annapolis, one of which killed a person. Police said a van and a tractor-trailer collided on eastbound Route 50 near exit 22 just before midnight. The driver of the van was killed. Less than a mile away, state police said another crash sent four people to hospitals after four cars and a tractor-trailer collided around 9:15 p.m. on eastbound Route 50 near Interstate 97.

Suspicious Man Offered Girls Ride, Police Say.  Two Marley Middle School students reported a suspicious man who offered them a ride Thursday morning. Anne Arundel County police said two 12-year-old girls said the man approached them around 7:30 a.m. in the area of Americana Circle and asked one of them if he could give her a ride to school. The girl refused and walked to a bus stop at a nearby shopping center.

Developer Cancels Annapolis City Dock Deal. A developer said he is canceling a proposed $20 million Annapolis City Dock redevelopment. The Capital reports that developer Mark Ordan said Tuesday that the decision to nix the deal was shaped by public opposition and the election of Mayor-elect Mike Pantelides, who opposed the plan.

Retired Officers To Give County Cold Cases New Life.  A new team of retired police officers has been put together to help investigate some of Anne Arundel County’s unsolved cases, and one mother is hoping it will generate new leads in the death of her daughter. The case of Katherine Morris, 21, was officially ruled a suicide, but the chief of police told her family members that, with the help of the new panel, police are committed to searching for new clues in her case and in others.
