The Love for Luca organization along with the Assante and Lubrano families of Annapolis are saddened to announce that the namesake of the Love for Luca organization gained his wings on the evening on November 6, 2013. Luca Assante was 6-years-old and had been battling cancer including rabdomysarcoma and most recently leukemia, since he was 2-years-old. Luca had been under the careful watch of the dedicated team at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Pediatric Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
“Luca was an incredibly brave and sweet child. He battled and won against this horrible disease once, but God felt it was his time. We find comfort in the fact that he is now at peace“ explained Laura Lubrano DiBiasi, Luca’s Aunt and one of the founding members of the Love for Luca organization.
A Viewing will be held at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, Maryland. Tuesday, November 12th at 10:30am; Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, Maryland. Interment to immediately follow.
