The Summit School partnered with Stewart and Labbe Orthodontics to give a sweet salute to our troops with Operation Gratitude.  Students collected Halloween candy to send overseas to our troops. Not only was this a lesson in giving but a math class opportunity as well. First, the students estimated the overall weight of the candy collected.  Next, they calculated the weight of the candy by weighing themselves holding the candy and then subtracting their own weight. And, finally, they rounded to the nearest pound because the scale gave the answer with ounces.  A total of 113 pounds of candy was collected by Summit students.
