Escaped Inmate Captured Wednesday Evening.  The search is over for an escaped inmate in Anne Arundel County. Elwood Veney was taken into custody Wednesday evening in an area of West Baltimore near West Pratt Street between 6 p.m and 7 p.m. Police said around 2 p.m. Veney  was last seen at a State Highway Administration facility at 130 Defense Highway. Police said he was seen running toward Generals Highway toward Annapolis Mall.

Man Armed With Handgun Robs Severn Bank.  Anne Arundel County police are investigating a bank robbery in Severn. County police said officers were called around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday to the M&T Bank branch inside the Shoppers Food Warehouse in the 7800 block of Quarterfield Road. Police said a man passed a note to a teller and showed the butt of a handgun from inside his coat.

Bias Alleged In Naval Academy Case.  A lawyer for a U.S. Naval Academy student accused of sexual assault is asking a federal judge to remove the school’s superintendent from the case out of concern he could be biased from political pressure due to the heightened focus on the sexual assault problem in the military. ason Ehrenberg, an attorney for Midshipman Josh Tate, wrote in a court filing submitted Tuesday night that a bias on the part of Vice Adm. Michael Miller could affect how he chooses who will serve on a court-martial panel that will decide his client’s guilt or innocence.

3 Vehicles Collide On Route 100 In Pasadena.  A multi-vehicle crash closed the eastbound lanes of Route 100 for a time Wednesday evening. Anne Arundel County police said three vehicles collided shortly before 5:30 p.m. on eastbound Route 100 near Catherine Avenue in Pasadena. One lane was reopened by 6 p.m.
