Bicyclist Struck In Arnold Flown To Shock-Trauma.  A bicyclist was struck in the Arnold area Monday afternoon. Emergency crews were called around 2:30 p.m. to northbound Ritchie Highway just south of Jones Station Road, where the bicyclist tried to cross the northbound lanes into a nearby shopping center, police said. Police said some cars stopped to allow the bicyclist to cross but a car in the right lane struck her.

Longtime Annapolis Mail Carrier Dies At 82.  A longtime mail carrier who walked his Annapolis route for decades has died. For more than 50 years, Morris Hall walked the same mail route in the Annapolis community of Eastport, delivering mail in the pouring rain. A couple years ago, the U.S. Postal Service honored Hall for 50 years of dedicated service. He had no intention of retiring and didn’t believe in sick days.

Speed Cited As Cause In Fatal Crash.  Anne Arundel County police said speed was a factor in a crash early Monday morning that killed a person and tied up traffic for hours in the Annapolis area. Police were called to Route 450 near The Ridges Gateway around 4 a.m. after a power outage was reported. Officers said they found a two-door 2000 Honda Civic that had hit a pole and burst into flames. The driver was declared dead at the scene. Officials have not been able to identify that person yet and will need to wait on autopsy results.

Man Burned When Propane Fireplace Malfunctions.  Anne Arundel County fire officials said a Pasadena man suffered serious burns when his propane fireplace malfunctioned. Fire Department spokesman Lt. Cliff Kooser told The Annapolis Capital that firefighters were called to a report of a propane explosion on Shoreside Trail in Pasadena on Sunday afternoon. He said crews found a 55-year-old man suffering from burns to about 15 percent of his face and head.
