Haunted Harmonies With The Londontowne Symphony Orchestra

image003The “Spooky Sounds, Haunted Harmonies” concert by the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra on October 26 will feature a Halloween costume contest for all ages attending the concert. This special Saturday evening concert was planned by Anna Binneweg, the orchestra’s Music Director/Conductor, to include favorite Halloween music for families and children.

The concert, at South River High School, will also feature exceptional high school music students sitting side-by-side with their adult counterparts on stage.

Anna Binneweg said, “The LSO’s mission is to provide enriching and enjoyable high-quality orchestral music to the community and to provide opportunities for young people to grow under professional guidance. This Halloween concert has given us the ability to do both.”

The Spooky and Haunted program concert starts at 7:30 PM and will include Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King” from Peer Gynt, Liszt’s Totentanz featuring pianist William Bloomquist, Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette, Selections from Psycho, and Berlioz’ “March to the Scaffold” & “Dream of  a Witches’ Sabbath” from Symphonie Fantastique.

Get your costumes ready. Families are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to the concert. Judging will be done at the intermission, and prizes will be awarded.

Dr. William Bloomquist, the featured soloist for the evening, has performed in many of the nation’s major concert halls, including the Kennedy Center, Boston’s Jordan Hall and New York City’s Merkin Concert Hall. His international touring has included Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Portugal, Russia, Spain and Venezuela. Dr. Bloomquist is Worship Pastor at Riva Trace Baptist Church in Annapolis, Maryland. He is also immediate past president of the Anne Arundel County Music Teachers Association, the current president of the LSO Board of Directors and maintains a private teaching studio.

This is a special time for an LSO concert, so all should take note: Saturday evening at 7:30 PM, October 26, at the South River High School. General admission for the concert is $15, seniors are $10, and all students are free. Tickets are available at the door, or before each concert by visiting www.LSO-music.org or by calling (410) 562-8920.
