UPDATE: From the scene, about 10 pieces of equipment responded with fifty firefighters from Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. There were no reported injuries and the fire appears to have originated in the third floor apartment of 930 Bay Forest Court in the Bay Forest Apartments.
According to residents, the buildings are supposed to be non-smoking except for residents who were “grandfathered” in to allow for smoking. The building is fully sprinklered and equipped with smoke detectors.
A smoking mattress was removed from the apartment and was smoldering on the walkway beneath the fire scene.
Just before 11:00pm, Annapolis Fire crews responded to 930 Bay Forest Court for smoke in an apartment and a possible bedroom fire.
Upon arrival, they reported a working bedroom fire on the 3rd floor and called for additional medics to assist in the evacuation.
