Authorities are still searching for Ellwood Veney, a prisoner who is serving time for robbery with a deadly weapon. Veney was assigned to a work crew at the State Highway Administration facility on Defense Highway when he walked off the job.
He was last seen running towards the Westfield Annapolis mall. Anne Arundel County police conducted an exhaustive search yesterday, but came up short. The Department of Corrections is now leading the investigation and the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County police departments are being extra vigilant.
Veney, 33, is 5’9″ and weighs 189 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans (no pockets), blue scrub type shirt with a gray sweatshirt. He has tattoos on his arm, chest and neck and his name is tattooed on his right arm. As of last night, authorities believed he was still in the Annapolis area.
If spotted, the public is asked to call 911 immediately and is warned to not approach him. Police have advised that the photo is recent, and accurate.
