Glen Burnie High School Fire Causes $6K In Damage. Fire officials in Anne Arundel County said a fire on the athletic field of Glen Burnie High School caused $6,000 in damage. Fire officials were called to the field at 4:25 a.m. Saturday and found a baseball dugout on fire. Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control in less than an hour, and there were no injuries.

2 Arrested In Series Of Diesel Thefts.  Detectives have arrested two men and seized dozens of weapons after a two-month-long investigation in connection with a series of diesel fuel thefts across Anne Arundel County, police said. Police said Robert Douglas Murphy, 49, and Daniel Guy Padgett, 34, were arrested Saturday after investigators conducted multiple days of surveillance following an anonymous tip to the police department from a concerned citizen.

Police Look For Teens In Connection With Robbery.  Police are looking for three teens they said assaulted and robbed a man in Laurel. Officers were called around 6:45 a.m. Friday after complaints of a strong-arm robbery at Faraway Hills and Scenic Meadow Drive in Laurel about 20 minutes earlier. A 32-year-old man told police he prearranged a meeting with a man he met earlier in the week to sell pairs of his shoes. The two men met at the corner of Faraway Hills and Scenic Meadow Drive and were discussing the sale when two other people approached the victim and began assaulting him.

County Schools Seek To Reduce Student Suicides. Anne Arundel County school officials are trying to reverse the trend of suicides among their students. Suicide is the third-leading cause of death among the nation’s 15- to 24-year-olds. It’s also the third-leading cause of death of 10- to 14-year-olds as well. It’s an issue educators said is not talked about often enough at home and at school, where teenagers are crying out for help. For the school communities, suicide, and the issues that drive this dangerous behavior, is very much a part of the day-to-day conversation.
