911 Calls Released In Stabbing Death Of Mother. Officials released 911 calls of the slaying of an Annapolis mother of two. Detectives said they got reports of a man assaulting a woman in the 1900 block of Copeland Street around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said a witness claimed to have seen William Brown, 31, on top of the victim, identified as 29-year-old Ranessha Simms, stabbing her with a knife.

Annapolis Police Bring Back Water Patrols With New Boat. The Annapolis Police Department is boasting a new, high-tech police boat that has brought maritime patrols back to the city’s waters after an eight-year hiatus. The new 28-foot Metal Shark Defiant aluminum police boat was made possible by a more than $315,000 Homeland Security grant, which also afforded police to get equipment for it, a trailer and a sport utility vehicle.

4th Sexual Assault Reported On Columbia Footpath.  Police in Howard County are stepping up patrols on pathways in the suburbs after another sexual assault was reported in Columbia, and detectives said the cases are all linked. Detectives told WBAL-TV 11 News that the latest incident is the fourth reported on a Columbia footpath since the beginning of August. The most recent incident happened Friday in the Long Reach neighborhood on a footpath near Blade Green Lane.

Texas Governor Aims Attack Ad At O’Malley. Texas Gov. Rick Perry stars in a new series of radio and television ads that will hit the air in Baltimore and Washington on Thursday morning, and they seem to attack Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s record in an effort to attract more business to the Lone Star State.  The ad touts the business climate in the state of Texas and could be a preview of what O’Malley could face if he decides to run for president.
