On September 16, 2013 just before 10 p.m., Fire Department units were dispatched for a dwelling fire in the 400 block of Highland Drive in Edgewater. The first arriving unit reported a fire on the front porch of an occupied dwelling that had been extinguished. Crews immediately recognized the fire was intentionally set and requested Fire Investigation be dispatched to the scene.
Fire investigators arrived, initiated an investigation, and determined the fire was arson. The investigation also revealed this was not a random act, and that the home was in fact targeted.
The home suffered approximately $8,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.
