Charges: Distracted Driving Led To Bay Bridge Crash. The Maryland Transportation Authority said the primary cause of a three-vehicle crash on the Bay Bridge that sent a woman’s car plunging over the edge in July was distracted driving on the part of a commercial truck driver. During the incident, a tractor-trailer driven by Gabor Lovasz, 29, of Canada, rear-ended a Chrysler on the bridge’s eastbound span as the Chrysler was slowing down to stop, causing it to go over the barrier wall and fall about 27 feet into the shallow waters. The rig also hit a Mazda.

More From The Core Ad Aims To Educate Parents On New Curriculum.  One week into the new school year, there’s about to be a new advertising campaign to help educators teach the new common core curriculum. The ad is being put together by the Maryland State Education Association. Besides reaching teachers, it’s designed to reach parents, as well.

Fake Apple Products Sold At Arundel Mills Mall.  Maryland State Police said they’ve recovered hundreds of counterfeit Apple products that were for sale at two stores in Arundel Mills Mall, and they’re warning consumers to beware of what they’re buying. Officers said they raided the Cyberion store and the ST Tech Pros kiosk last Friday and recovered hundreds of fake Apple products that were being sold as authentic factory replacements.

Police: Student Brings Weapons To School. A high school student in Anne Arundel County is now facing charges, accused of bringing a deadly weapon to campus. Officers at Southern High School said they found three unloaded shotguns, ammunition and a hunting knife. Police said they found the items in the student’s vehicle while conducting a search on an unrelated matter.
